Software Developer
Our client is seeking a Software Developer to join their Plant Operations team and contribute to the development of advanced software models that support control room simulation. This role involves close collaboration with operators and engineers to ensure plant models are accurate, reliable, and reflective of engineering documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, strong in technical problem-solving, and experienced with simulation software, modeling, and analysis tools.
This role is fully remote.
Software Developer Responsibilities
- Translate engineering documentation into accurate plant simulation models.
- Support the design, testing, and maintenance of control room simulators and related software projects.
- Develop and maintain software in alignment with established configuration control processes.
- Identify, document, and troubleshoot software defects using issue tracking tools.
- Recommend and implement solutions to resolve errors and improve system performance.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve high-quality deliverables and long-term objectives.
- Perform limited hardware setup tasks, including installing equipment and connecting systems.
- Provide support on-site and occasionally travel to additional locations as needed.
- Uphold safety, quality assurance, and compliance standards in daily work.
Software Developer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field (ABET-accredited program preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in modeling or simulator development.
- Proficiency with Fortran, C++, and/or Python.
- Experience working with Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code, Git, and project management tools such as GitHub or GitLab.
- Familiarity with GSE simulation software (e.g., SimExec, JTopmeret, JElectric) required.
- Hands-on experience with thermal hydraulic system codes (e.g., RELAP5, Trace) and neutronic analysis codes (e.g., Simulate 3, MCNP) preferred.
- Understanding of thermal hydraulic engineering principles, numerical methods, and fluid flow/heat transfer modeling desirable.
- Ability to interpret P&ID drawings and apply knowledge to model electrical systems such as breakers, busses, and devices.
- Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 regulations.
Salary: $108K-$131K/year. (DOE)
