Senior Engineering Manager
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineering Manager to bridge the gap between business and technical teams while supporting the company’s continued expansion. This role is designed for a hands-on engineering expert with broad technical knowledge who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will take on increasing leadership responsibilities over time, with a structured plan in place to support their growth within the organization.

This role is a hybrid model in Hillsboro, Oregon. On remote days, candidates must be available during 8PM-11PM for international meetings. International travel required for 2-3 weeks of training.

Senior Engineering Manager Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of all products, processes, and teams, contributing to technical documentation and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Act as a technical advisor to business and product teams, providing insight on architecture, development best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams in Vietnam, staying informed on project progress, technical roadmaps, and process optimization.
  • Assist with technical planning, including project timelines, workload balancing, estimations, and cross-team coordination.
  • Troubleshoot escalated technical issues, working with internal teams to implement solutions that improve system performance and user experience.
  • Support long-term growth by leading and managing engineers and QA testers, overseeing performance management, team structuring, and process development.
  • Participate in strategic planning, contributing to product direction and ensuring technical decisions align with business objectives.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation to support internal teams and enhance product development workflows.
  • Adapt to changing business needs, taking on various tasks across the development lifecycle as required.

Senior Engineering Manager Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on software development experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proficiency across multiple technical domains, including software architecture, cloud infrastructure, embedded firmware, mobile applications, and web development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-driven solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with distributed teams and working cross-functionally to align technical and business goals.
  • Familiarity with automation testing, security monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices.
  • Ability to thrive in an agile, startup-like environment where adaptability and versatility are key.
  • Background in the fuel and energy industry is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work some evening hours (8 PM – 11 PM) to collaborate with overseas teams.
  • Availability to work in-office at least three days per week at the company’s Hillsboro, OR headquarters.

Compensation: $140k-$180k + bonus. (DOE)
