Apparel Color Designer
Our client is seeking an experienced Apparel Color Designer to join their creative team and support color execution across seasonal apparel lines. This role is highly collaborative and technical, requiring both creative sensibility and precision in managing digital assets, palette development, and product readiness for upcoming seasons. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of driving multiple projects from concept through handoff in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

This role is a hybrid model in Los Angeles, California.

Apparel Color Designer Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute color design work across multiple apparel categories, ensuring seasonal palettes align with product strategy and visual direction.
  • Maintain and update digital line art, including new color-ups, revisions, and overall file accuracy for upcoming seasons.
  • Support creation and validation of seasonal color standards, partnering with development and color teams to confirm feasibility and quality across materials.
  • Manage the organization and upkeep of digital color libraries, family files, and color standards systems containing 700+ references.
  • Prepare and upload seasonal assets (Aurora, VLP PNGs, palette pages, etc.) for color handoff and cross-functional visibility.
  • Collaborate closely with design and product teams to ensure schematics, PRs, and documentation are complete and accurate for production readiness.
  • Contribute to the creation of digital palette presentations and assist in maintaining a clear, structured archive of color data.
  • Ensure adherence to seasonal calendars and deliverables while maintaining clear communication with partners across design, merchandising, and color development.

Apparel Color Designer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in color, apparel, or product design, with demonstrated skill in product creation and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of digital color tools and asset management systems; familiarity with large-scale color libraries and file handling processes.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously while maintaining a high standard of organization and follow-through.
  • Effective communicator with experience working in agile, fast-paced design environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Prior experience in the athletic or lifestyle apparel industry preferred.

Compensation: Up to $50/hr. (DOE)
