Civil/Structural Engineer
Our client is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to apply technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision-making skills to perform civil structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures. The ideal candidate will possess a robust design background and be proficient in structural concrete and steel analysis and design, contributing to groundbreaking projects in the nuclear engineering sector. Prior US Commercial Nuclear experience is preferred, but not required. Expertise with ANSYS is required.

This role is fully remote.

Civil/Structural Engineer Responsibilities

  • Utilize structural engineering tools and adhere to appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures, including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types such as concrete and steel.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants to ensure effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical issues.
  • Develop and review requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with contractors and regulatory bodies as a routine part of project oversight.
  • Lead the oversight of suppliers and review technical information to ensure alignment with statements of work and requirements documents.
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and lead on technical issues as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Civil/Structural Engineer Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Registered Professional Engineer license (P.E.) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in nuclear and non-nuclear structural design engineering.
  • Proficiency in the design and analysis of structures, including concrete and steel, and familiarity with design software and finite element method analyses.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes such as ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual, and Seismic Design Manual preferred.
  • Experience with ANSYS is required, and LS-DYNA is preferred. SAP2000 is no longer a priority.
  • Computer programming skills in Matlab or Python are a plus.
  • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Salary: $109K-$170K/year. (DOE)
